Error 80072f8f updating windows dating in philly
I installed a Windows 7 Enterprise on a Virtual Machine (Microsoft Virtual Server 2005). The first thing I found was this, but I am definitely sure my timezone and time and date information is correct.
Still I get a Code 80072F8F Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
Simply correcting the date and time usually makes this error go away.
The same issue can also occur on desktop PCs when running Windows Update.
As I understand it this error means WU had a problem with the ssl connection back to MS and usually that's just a case of making sure the computer is on the right date, time etc.
You will need to enable Firewall and security programs in case this housekeeping procedure is successful in resolving the error.
If you choose to participate, the online survey will be presented to you when you leave the Technet Web site.
The 80072f8f error generally happens when there is a large discrepancy between your system clock and the Windows Update service….
It can also browse https websites in IE (even microsoft.com) without any problems.
Over the weeks I've had several goes at fixing it and I'm afraid I can't list all the things I've tried because... The windows update troubleshoot thing from here https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/ins ... I'm not noticing any certificate errors while visiting websites in IE.
